two upcoming interactive seminars 

with Cross Points missionary, Joni Wise! 

October 6 and October 20 from 9:30am-11:30am

Session 1:  October 6--What is a "Missional" Christian anyway?

 

How do we understand and deal with rapidly changing culture?
How do we impact and disciple those in our everyday world?


Sharing techniques that she has used on the mission field, Joni plans to teach not just how to disciple, but how to disciple other "disciples."   Imagine--each believer can fulfill the Great Commission right where they are at, instead of always feeling guilty about "not witnessing" enough.  Ladies, this is not "lecture style" teaching, but a very interactive applicational seminar that you will put to use the week after you learn it.

Session 2:  October 20-- Being a Missional Church (IN, OUT, and UP)

Joni plans to share how you, the disciples, can send out disciples who ALSO train new disciples.  Every believer is part of this amazing, but simple process and we'll learn how this leads to the growth of God's kingdom. 



Week 2 will give us the chance to share and encourage each other in small groups as we work through and practice what we've learned.

Helpers will prep food, serve, bus tables, and wash dishes-

10:30am until 1:00 pm approximately.

A carpool will form at Cross Points Church at 9:45am.

 Maps, sign-ups, car-pool info are at our table in the foyer after church.

Family-friendly event! 
Men and children are invited to participate.  Children must be old enough to stay with a parent and help.
They may not wander, so you have to know your child.

Dress Code:

    Please wear jeans or pants.  No shorts.

    Tennis shoes (no open toe shoes or flip flops).

    Shirts with sleeves.

    Ballcaps are great or hair nets will be available.

It costs approximately $350 to provide one meal, so we're taking up a love offering to help with food expenses.  Checks should be made out to "Cross Points Church,"  with "Hope Faith Ministries" in the memo.  Drop them in the offering box or bring them to our table.

We will be doing a study of this book in April, May and June. We will be having a large session to introduce the topic, and then meeting in small groups to discuss them. These small groups will meet at another time during the month, to discuss and apply the materials. There will be a small amount of homework involved.

Come and be a part of this life changing study. We need your commitment and if you so decide, it WILL impact your life.

We are asking you to let us know by Apr. 15th if you will be participating. You will be responsible for buying a book. We do have some available at a discount price of $5.00. They are also available online at Amazon. You can sign up at the church or on Facebook. Books will be available for purchase at the sign up table at the church.

Help Serve Lunch @ Hope Faith Ministries!

As an outreach project this year, BLOOM! is going to serve lunch at Hope Faith Ministries in Kansas City Missouri on Saturday, January 28th. Plan on meeting at Cross Points Church at 9:45 am to carpool over; plan on being done around 1:00 pm. We'll have maps!

So that we know how many can help, we're asking you to sign up the next two Sundays, January 15th and 22nd at our table at church. Family friendly: Men and children are invited to participate. The children MUST be old enough to stay with a parent and help. They may not wander, so you have to know your child. Please come and share in blessing Hope Faith Ministries!

There is a dress code--shouldn't bother us too much in winter.  Essentially the code is: no shorts, no flip-flops, and bring a ball cap to work in the kitchen (or they will have hair nets!)

In Honor of Our Courageous Missionary Women-

Thank you, Cross Points Church for generously contributing $1330 for our missionary ladies!   That means that our ten missionary women were each given an envelope containing $133 just for them!  It was fun to share the evening with such incredible and courageous women!

  Spend an evening with our honored guests and hear their stories of courage from the field.  Special music, light refreshments, and lots of sweet fellowship are on the agenda for the evening.  Child care is provided--kindly register your children and let us know their ages when you reply to the evite.  Or meet us next Sunday at the table in the foyer after church.
  
  Don't forget--we're also taking a collection to bless our courageous missionary women.  Mark your donation with the words "missionary women" and leave it in an offering box or drop it by our table next Sunday.

2011 Fall Retreat!

It's been oh so many years since we've just gone away for an overnight together--we're looking forward to that! But Eau and BLOOM! long for a weekend of learning--about God and His plans for our relationships, about discipleship and mentorship, about God's plans for our lives. Join us and special guests, Jodi Harkness and Lori Harris as we put our routines behind us for 24 hours and concentrate on Him.

We'll be setting up a table in the foyer before and after church. We have flyers there with much more information and that's where you'll register. Cost is $30 until Sept. 11th. Saturday Morning Breakfast at Hope Faith Ministries!

 Due to a burst drain pipe and subsequent flooded basement, HOPE FAITH MINISTRIES has to close down for the day on August 13th and we are unable to serve breakfast.  Please watch for a future serving date!  Thank you for your willingness to serve-      Jan
