Warrior Princess Club (WPC)

Thank you, Tonya McGhee for inspiring all of us to recognize our worth as Daughters of the Most High King!

After the Bible Study this summer and the Retreat this month, many of you have expressed a desire for more opportunities to connect with each other and grow further in The Lord.  BLOOM! is pleased and excited to announce that a women's group will be meeting on Wednesday nights at 7 in the CPC Fireside Room.

This small group is open to women of all ages and doesn't require any commitment. Come when you can and bring a friend! These meetings will focus on helping us be awake to the Spirit and know who we really are in Christ. We will be talking about Kingdom matters and learning how to step into our rightful places as daughters of the Most High King. Topics will include heart healing, battle training, dream building, and much more! We will tackle real life issues with an eternal perspective--using humor, visual aids, and in a plain-speaking manner.

If you are struggling with your purpose, if you feel like you are in waiting for your life to begin, if you feel overwhelmed with depression, loneliness, or business in life....this group is for you! If you have any questions, feel free to contact Tonya at 913-523-3817.  If you need childcare--let Tonya know.  We will do our best to have it on an "as-needed" basis.

We have a group page on Facebook.  Please drop by and "like" us so we can tag you in future posts!

Worship led by Melissa Morales
Melissa began worship ministry at the age of 14.  She has ministered in several churches across the country, and served with Youth With a Mission in Nashville, Tennessee, ministering as well in Latin America and Southeast Asia.  She currently lives in Johnson County with her husband of 16 years, Robby, and their four children.

Conference Speaker: Tonya McGhee
Tonya McGhee was raised in a small town and dreamed of a life of magic and meaning.  A sometime actress, poet, singer, and songwriter, she settled down to raise a family and make a home.  Years later, she has found that life of meaning in the most unexpected place...as a daughter of the Most High King!  Now she is on an epic quest...searching for truth, love, and kindred spirits while battling the fierce foes of fear, worry, and regret.  She has been freed from the spell of the Enemy, and her duty now is to share the keys of the Kingdom with others.

Want to read something while you're waiting for the Retreat?  May BLOOM! suggest Waking the Dead: the Glory of a Heart Fully Alive.  By John Eldridge.

Come set Your rule and reign
In our hearts again
Increase in us we pray
Unveil why we're made
Come set our hearts ablaze with hope
Like wildfire in our very souls
Holy Spirit come invade us now
We are Your Church
We need Your power
In us

March Kindnesses

Well, this is just too good--another snow event scheduled for Thursday night, March 21st.  And we've collected enough to put together a lovely box of treats for the men and women who will be up all night treating the roads.  Check it out:
Chock full of muffins, fruit snacks, popcorn, jerky, hand lotions, candies, individual antibacterial wipes, and fruit juices--we'll deliver it in time for them to have it for their overnight shift!  Great job Cross Points!   Next week--the staff at Sweet Life will feel our love!

Looking to bless the city of Shawnee this month?  How about spreading a little love to the Field Operations division of the Shawnee Public Works Department?  These men and women worked 12-hour shifts night and day to clear the snow and ice during those February snowstorms.  The rest of the time they maintain curb, gutters, and sidewalks, storm water drainage, and are responsible for street sweeping. Here's a link to their website.
We also plan to bless the staff at the Alzheimer's and Memory Care Unit of Sweet Life at Shawnee.  These people provide comfortable residential care in a safe environment designed to stimulate recognition, recall and wellness.  This website tells a little more about them.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED:
On Sunday, March 17 and 24, BLOOM!  will be collecting pre-packaged treats and snacks, along with personal notes of appreciation and thanks.  We encourage you to get the kids involved and have them draw a picture of the snow or simply write thank you.  Some suggestions for treats might include wrapped candy or cookies, microwave popcorn, pretzels, or how about a sample-sized hand lotion?  For the snow removal team wouldn't Sno-Caps candy, hot cocoa, Hot Hands packs, or cough drops be appropriate?   Please use your imagination and bring your contributions to the BLOOM! table either before or after church.  We'll see that these local heroes receive your love and support.

Thanks,  BLOOM!

Girls Night Out with Eva Dennington

Eva Dennington--thank you for sharing your heart and your passion with us!  The women of Cross Points Church join you in praying for more of God, more of Him.  And the pickle juice feels ever so sweet this morning!  :-)  Love from BLOOM!
And BLOOM!--thanks for your generous hearts--we were able to send Eva on her "all-inclusive" cruise with over $160 in "fun money!"  Thank you from Eva-

She's born Danish, married an American, and serves God in Taiwan--this Eva Dennington is quite remarkable! We've been thrilled to have her at Cross Points for a couple of months now and she sweetly agreed to sit down with us for a little girl chat. So come on out and bring your questions, because that's what Eva wants to answer. What does revival in Taiwan look like? What book is she currently reading? And really, what does she think of Americans after all? Well BLOOM!, this is your chance to ask Eva anything your little heart desires.

We'll have the fire going, the comfy couches, some warm coffee and tea drinks, and our beloved Eva Dennington for a very informal chat.

Looking for a way to bless Eva? Eva and Gregg are sailing out of Miami on a cruise the end of February. Bring a few extra dollars Tuesday night for a love offering and we'll send it with Eva for a little "fun money" for their cruise.

AWAKE / 2013 BLOOM! Committee Retreat

I slept, but my heart was awake.
A sound! My beloved is knocking.
"Open to me, my sister, my love,
     my dove, my perfect one..."
           Song of Solomon 5: 2a

"As the day blows shadows away my love speaks to me...arise my darling...
awake...
come away...
up to the cleft of the rock on the winding stair...
fly my dove and meet me there...
come away... come away."
-Lori Harris, from "Come Away on her lift*ed album.

January 2013 began with a BLOOM! committee retreat involving 11 committee members and pastor's wives,  and our long-time sister and friend, Lori Harris, at the Journey Home in Dearborn, Missouri.  We filled 24 hours with worship, Bible Study, prayer, and sharing.  As we thought about the events of the past year, as we envisioned what God would have for our women this year, we felt it is a time to AWAKE--to shake off our slumber and to become fully conscious of the love of our Father for each of us.

Lori led several worship sessions designed to lead us to the throne of God, we shared Scripture, and passions, and the Words of the Year that God was speaking to us.  Heather Jones shared a basic outline of the church schedule for the year.  We are so grateful for the opportunity that God gave us to connect with Him, hear His voice, and prepare for the year ahead.

This retreat was also designed to build relationships between the BLOOM! and Eau Committees which have combined for women's ministry this year.
